General information on taking back waste electronic equipment and batteries
The German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (Elektro- und Elektronikgerätegesetz) and the German Battery Law Implementation Act (Batterierecht-Durchführungsgesetz or BattDG) impose a legal obligation to take back and properly dispose of waste electronic equipment and batteries. These Acts set out the requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment and batteries.
August Rüggeberg GmbH & Co. KG considers sustainable and eco-friendly business practices and waste disposal arrangements to be part of our core values and sense of social responsibility.
1. Separate collection of waste equipment
Collecting waste separately keeps harmful substances out of household waste and the environment and ensures that valuable metals and materials are reused as part of the circular economy. Any collected waste batteries and waste equipment are exclusively recycled. Valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, manganese, copper, iron, aluminium and even silver can be recovered and reused as secondary raw materials. For this reason, the products have a symbol with a crossed-out wheelie bin. Owners of waste equipment must return it using special collection and return schemes.
2. Standard and rechargeable batteries
Waste batteries (both standard and rechargeable) that are not enclosed within the waste equipment must be returned separately. The only case in which this does not apply is if waste equipment is returned to public waste management facilities (e.g. recycling centres) where the materials are separated by type.
August Rüggeberg GmbH & Co. KG is a member of the approved takeback scheme run by the GRS Batteries Foundation (Stiftung GRS Batterien) in Germany, a specialist in the circular economy. As a result, we can offer a comprehensive battery take-back scheme (as stipulated in the BattDG). For further information please see
www.grs-batterien.de.
3. Return options for waste equipment
If you want to replace your PFERD TOOLS product with a new one or no longer have any use for it, do not simply dispose of it with household waste. Instead, return it to a public waste management facility (e.g. recycling centres).
The locations of these facilities in Germany can be found at the following link: https://e-schrott-entsorgen.org/ (available in German only).
In accordance with Section 14 BattDG and Section 17 ElektroG, PFERD TOOLS can also take back PFERD TOOLS drives and batteries (both standard and rechargeable) once they have reached the end of their service life. If you wish to use this service, please return the product in question to us.
